Sound of Freedom is based on the true story of a federal agent who journeys into the darkest of places to rescue one girl from child traffickers.
Sound of Freedom shines a light on even the darkest of places. After rescuing a young boy from ruthless child traffickers, a federal agent learns the boy’s sister is still captive and decides to embark on a dangerous mission to save her. With time running out, he quits his job and journeys deep into the Colombian jungle, putting his life on the line to free her from a fate worse than death.
Sound of Freedom stars Jim Caviezel (The Passion of the Christ, The Count of Monte Cristo, Frequency, Deja Vu), Academy Award Winner Mira Sorvino (The Final Cut, Psych, After Ever Happy), Bill Camp (12 Years a Slave, The Queen’s Gambit, Joker), José Zúñiga (Twilight, Madam Secretary, American Crime Story.
The film is directed by Alejandro Monteverde (Little Boy, Bella) written by Alejandro Monteverde and Rod Barr, and produced by Eduardo Verástegui (Unplanned, Son of God, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2).

IMPORTANCE OF RAISING AWARENESS
Human Trafficking has been an existing problem that has not been talked about enough. The revenue it generates is an incentive for its perpetrators to silence any discussion on the topic. It’s not surprising that many people are not aware of the depts of this problem. It’s not only about males and females but the largest market is child trafficking for sexual exploitation, slave labor, and organ harvesting.
Sexual exploitation goes beyond just the sexual act to the filming of it and profiting from that. Many would not admit how the digital porn industry has contributed to the rise of child trafficking, and how the lack of effective and efficient migration laws makes it much easier for traffickers to do business.
Since the story is way too important to be shelved Angel Studios made an effort to get the film in U.S. theaters and let those that cannot afford to pay a ticket go see it for free with their “Pay it Forward” crowdfunding initiative. Their goal is to have 2 million people in the U.S. watch the movie on the opening weekend to represent the 2 million children trafficked. The campaign is titled #2MillionFor2Million.
Jim Caviezel plays Tim Ballard, and the film is based on one of his many operations. Changes have been made to the original story for cinematic purposes. In an interview, Eduardo tells the story of how Jim’s wife requested more security during the filming in Colombia. While filming there was a similar story of what they were filming shown in the news. Turns out the extra security came to do the undercover operation in Colombia and rescued a large group of children.

FINAL THOUGHTS
I hope that the film becomes so successful in the U.S., and popular on social media that the distributors would consider showing it in theaters worldwide before releasing it on streaming platforms. I believe it is an important story that should be watched on the big screen, and it is a much-needed contrast to the content we are exposed to in cinemas these days.
Sound of Freedom seems to be more than just a film.
